A thousand years ago in the north of Australia ten
men, led by old Minygululu, head into the forest to harvest barks for canoe
making. Trouble brews among the men and to deal with the situation
Minygululu recounts an ancient fable: a fable that takes a very long time to
tell, all through the days of canoe making and swamp travelling and goose
egg gathering. The vistas of swamp and forest, quiet and yet still
teeming with life, are captured superbly by cinematographer Ian Jones in
this sensitive portrayal of Aborigine culture.. |
